Mount Sinai West is a prominent hospital located in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is part of the Mount Sinai Health System, one of the largest and most comprehensive healthcare systems in the United States. The hospital is situated at 1000 Tenth Avenue, between West 58th and West 59th Streets.

History

Mount Sinai West was originally established in 1871 as the Roosevelt Hospital, named after James H. Roosevelt, a philanthropist who left his estate to establish a hospital for the treatment of the sick and injured. In 1997, the hospital merged with St. Luke's Hospital, forming the St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. In 2013, the hospital became part of the Mount Sinai Health System and was renamed Mount Sinai West in 2015.
