Plainview is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in the U.S. state of New York.
History[edit]
Plainview's history dates back to 1695 when it was first settled by Robert Williams. The area was originally used for farming and remained largely agricultural until the post-World War II suburban expansion.

. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.7 square miles (14.8 km²), all of it land.
Demographics[edit]
As of the 2020 census, there were 26,217 people residing in Plainview. The population density was 4,600 per square mile (1,800/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 80% White, 12% Asian, 2% African American, and 6% from other races.
Education[edit]
Plainview is served by the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School.
Economy[edit]
The economy of Plainview is diverse, with a mix of retail, services, and light industry. The area is home to several shopping centers and business parks.
Transportation[edit]
Plainview is accessible via the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and the Northern State Parkway. Public transportation is provided by the Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) bus system.
