Central Java (Jawa Tengah) is a province in Indonesia, located in the middle of the Java island. It is bordered by West Java to the west and East Java to the east. The province's capital and largest city is Semarang.

Central Java is located on the island of Java and is surrounded by the Java Sea to the north, West Java to the west, the Indian Ocean to the south, and East Java to the east. The province covers an area of approximately 32,800 square kilometers.

The economy of Central Java is diverse, with agriculture, manufacturing, and services all playing significant roles. The province is a major producer of rice, sugar cane, and tobacco, and its manufacturing sector includes textiles, furniture, and metalworking.

Demographics[edit]

The majority of Central Java's population is ethnically Javanese, with significant Sundanese, Chinese, and Arab communities. The primary religion is Islam, with smaller numbers of Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists.
