E2F5 is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors. It plays a crucial role in the control of the cell cycle and action of tumor suppressor proteins and is also a target of the transforming proteins of small DNA tumor viruses.
Function[edit]
The E2F family of transcription factors plays a crucial role in the control of cell cycle and action of tumor suppressor proteins and is also a target of the transforming proteins of small DNA tumor viruses. The E2F5 protein, like E2F4, binds to p107 and p130, but not to retinoblastoma protein (pRb). E2F5, unlike the other E2F family members, has a higher binding affinity for p130 than for p107.
