Zantigo

Zantigo is a U.S. based fast food chain that was founded in 1969. The chain is known for its Mexican-style food offerings, which include items such as chilitos, tacos, burritos, and chalupas.

History

Zantigo was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Marno McDermott, who had previously worked for the Burger King corporation. The first Zantigo restaurant was opened in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1969. The chain quickly expanded throughout the 1970s and 1980s, with locations opening across the United States.

In 1986, Zantigo was purchased by Taco Bell, which was owned by PepsiCo at the time. Most Zantigo locations were converted into Taco Bell restaurants, although a few locations continued to operate under the Zantigo name.

In 1996, a former Zantigo employee named Bob Thomson opened a new Zantigo restaurant in Minneapolis. This new Zantigo was not affiliated with the original chain, but it served many of the same menu items and used a similar logo. As of 2021, there are four Zantigo restaurants in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

Menu

Zantigo's menu features a variety of Mexican-style fast food items. These include tacos, burritos, chilitos, and chalupas. The chain is particularly known for its chilitos, which are similar to burritos but are smaller and have a softer shell.

In addition to its main menu items, Zantigo also offers a variety of sides and desserts. These include nachos, quesadillas, Mexican rice, and churros.
