Vitabiotics

Vitabiotics (pronounced vi-ta-bi-o-tics) is a British company that manufactures and sells vitamins and nutritional supplements. The company was founded in 1971 by Dr. Kartar Lalvani and has since grown to become one of the largest vitamin companies in the UK.

Etymology

The term "Vitabiotics" is a portmanteau of the words "vitamin" and "biotics". "Vitamin" is derived from the Latin word "vita", meaning life, and the Greek word "amine", which was originally thought to be the chemical compound in vitamins. "Biotics" is derived from the Greek word "biotikos", meaning pertaining to life.
