Algerian immunologist
Yasmine Belkaid is an Algerian immunologist known for her pioneering research in the field of host-microbe interactions. She is a senior investigator at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States.

Yasmine Belkaid was born in Algeria. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene in Algiers. She later pursued her doctoral studies in France, where she earned a Ph.D. in immunology.
Career[edit]
Belkaid began her career with a focus on parasitology and the immune response to Leishmania infection. She joined the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in 2002, where she has since made significant contributions to the understanding of the immune system's interaction with microbiota.
