West Bank Story
West Bank Story is a 2005 American short musical comedy film directed by Ari Sandel. The film is a parody of the classic musical West Side Story, set in the West Bank and featuring a conflict between two rival falafel stands.
Plot
The story revolves around the rivalry between the Palestinian-owned "Hummus Hut" and the Israeli-owned "Kosher King" falafel stands. The owners of the two stands, Fatima and David, are constantly at odds, mirroring the larger Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Despite the animosity between their families, Fatima's daughter, Fatima, and David's son, David, fall in love.
The film uses humor and music to address serious issues such as cultural differences, prejudice, and the possibility of reconciliation. The climax of the film involves a series of misunderstandings and comedic events that ultimately lead to a resolution where both sides learn to coexist peacefully.
