Water conservation (/ˈwɔːtər ˌkɒnsəˈveɪʃən/) refers to the reduction of water usage and the protection of water quality. This is done through various means, such as efficient water use and the prevention of water pollution.
Etymology
The term "water conservation" is derived from the English words "water" and "conservation". "Water" comes from the Old English "wæter", while "conservation" is derived from the Latin "conservare", meaning "to keep, preserve".
