Vale of Leven Hospital is a healthcare facility located in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It is managed by the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board.

History

The Vale of Leven Hospital was established in 1955, replacing the former Vale of Leven Infectious Diseases Hospital. The hospital has undergone several expansions and renovations over the years to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of the local population.

Services

The hospital provides a wide range of services including emergency medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics. It also offers specialized services such as cardiology, neurology, and oncology.

Facilities

The Vale of Leven Hospital features several state-of-the-art facilities including an Intensive Care Unit, a Maternity Ward, and a Radiology Department. The hospital also houses a Pharmacy that provides medications to inpatients and outpatients.

Controversies

The hospital has been the subject of several controversies, most notably the 2007-2008 Clostridium difficile outbreak, which resulted in the deaths of several patients. This led to a public inquiry and significant changes in infection control procedures at the hospital.
