UNE Ludcke Auditorium

University of New England (United States) (UNE) is a private university located in the state of Maine, United States. It is known for its comprehensive academic programs, particularly in the health sciences, marine sciences, and liberal arts. The university has two campuses in Maine, located in Biddeford and Portland, and an additional campus in Tangier, Morocco.

History

The University of New England was established in 1831 as Westbrook Seminary in Westbrook, Maine. Over the years, it underwent several transformations and mergers, notably with the College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978, which marked its evolution into a comprehensive university. In 1996, Westbrook College merged with the University of New England, adding a Portland campus to the institution.

Campuses

UNE has two main campuses in Maine. The Biddeford Campus is situated on a scenic site along the Saco River, offering a traditional college setting with a strong focus on undergraduate education, particularly in the sciences, health professions, and liberal arts.
