University of Ibadan (pronunciation: /ˌjuːnɪˈvɜːrsɪti ɒv ɪˈbaɪdən/) is a public university located in Ibadan, Nigeria. It is the oldest degree-awarding institution in Nigeria, and is often referred to as Unibadan or UI.
Etymology
The name "University of Ibadan" is derived from the location of the institution in the city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Nigeria.
History
The University of Ibadan was founded in 1948 as a College of the University of London. It became an independent university in 1962, making it the oldest degree-awarding institution in Nigeria.

The University of Ibadan has thirteen faculties, including Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Agriculture and Forestry, Education, Veterinary Medicine, Technology, Law, Public Health, Dentistry, Economics, Clinical Sciences, and Pharmacy.
