The University of Exeter is a public research university located in Exeter, Devon, England. It was founded in 1955, although its origins can be traced back to the establishment of the Royal Albert Memorial College in 1900. The university has grown significantly over the years and is now a member of the Russell Group of leading research-intensive universities in the United Kingdom.

History

The University of Exeter was formed from the amalgamation of several institutions, including the Royal Albert Memorial College and the University College of the South West of England. It received its royal charter in 1955, granting it university status. Since then, the university has expanded its facilities and academic offerings, becoming a prominent institution in the UK.
