Ubisoft Entertainment SA is a French video game company headquartered in Montreuil, with several development studios across the world. Founded in 1986 by the Guillemot family, it is one of the largest video game publishers in the world.
History
Ubisoft was established by five brothers of the Guillemot family in Carentoir, France. The company initially focused on distributing video games and software in France. By the late 1980s, Ubisoft began developing its own games, with its first major success being Zombi in 1986.
In the 1990s, Ubisoft expanded internationally, opening studios in Montreal, Shanghai, and other locations. The company gained recognition for developing and publishing popular franchises such as Rayman, Prince of Persia, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six.
