Two Point Hospital
2018 business simulation game
Two Point Hospital is a business simulation game developed by Two Point Studios and published by Sega. Released in August 2018 for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux, the game is a spiritual successor to the 1997 game Theme Hospital. It was later released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in February 2020.
Gameplay[edit]
In Two Point Hospital, players are tasked with constructing and managing a hospital with the goal of curing patients of fictional, comical ailments. The game involves designing hospital layouts, hiring and managing staff, and dealing with various challenges such as epidemics and earthquakes. Players must balance the hospital's finances while ensuring patient satisfaction and staff happiness.
The game features a variety of levels, each with unique challenges and objectives. Players can unlock new equipment, rooms, and upgrades as they progress. The game also includes a multiplayer component, allowing players to compete with others in online challenges.
Development[edit]
Two Point Hospital was developed by Two Point Studios, a company founded by former Bullfrog Productions employees who worked on Theme Hospital. The game was announced in January 2018 and was developed using the Unity engine.
The developers aimed to capture the humor and charm of Theme Hospital while introducing modern gameplay mechanics and improvements. The game received several updates and downloadable content (DLC) packs post-release, adding new hospitals, illnesses, and features.
Reception[edit]
Two Point Hospital received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its humor, art style, and engaging gameplay. It was noted for successfully reviving the spirit of Theme Hospital while introducing new elements to the genre. The game was nominated for several awards and was considered a commercial success.
