Theism (/ˈθiːɪzəm/; from Greek theos "god") is broadly defined as the belief in the existence of a supreme being or deities.
Etymology
The term theism derives from the Greek theos or theoi meaning "god". The term theism was first used by Ralph Cudworth (1617–1688).
Definition
In the broadest sense, a theist is someone who believes in at least one deity. Theists believe in a god or gods, including the belief in a single god in monotheism, or in many gods in polytheism.
