The Founder is a 2016 American biographical drama film directed by John Lee Hancock and written by Robert Siegel. The film stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, the man who turned McDonald's into a global fast-food empire. The film also features Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Linda Cardellini, Patrick Wilson, and B. J. Novak.

Plot

The film follows the story of Ray Kroc, a struggling traveling salesman who discovers a small but successful burger operation run by the McDonald brothers, Richard and Maurice. Impressed by their speedy system of making food, Kroc sees the potential for a franchise and eventually maneuvers himself into a position to take control of the company.
