Subinvolution (/sʌbˌɪnvəˈluːʃ(ə)n/) is a medical term referring to the delayed return of the uterus to its normal size after childbirth.
Etymology
The term "subinvolution" is derived from the Latin words "sub" meaning "under" or "less than", and "involutio" meaning "a rolling up". In the context of obstetrics, it refers to the slower than normal 'rolling up' or return of the uterus to its pre-pregnancy size.
