Star Trek: The Original Series (often abbreviated as TOS) is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The show originally aired from September 8, 1966, to June 3, 1969, on NBC. It follows the adventures of the starship USS Enterprise and its crew, led by Captain James T. Kirk, First Officer Spock, and Chief Medical Officer Leonard McCoy.

Premise

The series is set in the 23rd century, where the United Federation of Planets is a powerful interstellar government. The Enterprise is a Constitution-class starship tasked with exploring new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and boldly going where no man has gone before.

Main Characters

• James T. Kirk (played by William Shatner): The charismatic and daring captain of the Enterprise.
• Spock (played by Leonard Nimoy): The half-human, half-Vulcan first officer and science officer, known for his logical mind and lack of emotion.
• Leonard McCoy (played by DeForest Kelley): The ship's chief medical officer, often referred to as "Bones."

Production
