St John's College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. Founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas White, a wealthy London merchant, it is located on St Giles in central Oxford. The college is known for its distinctive architecture, extensive gardens, and strong academic performance.

St John's College was founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas White, a member of the Merchant Taylors' Company. The college was established on the site of the former Cistercian St Bernard's College, which had been dissolved during the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
Architecture[edit]
The college's main quadrangle, known as the Front Quadrangle, was built between 1555 and 1590. The college chapel, completed in 1557, is noted for its Perpendicular Gothic architecture. The Garden Quadrangle, designed by Arne Jacobsen, was completed in 1993 and is an example of modernist architecture.
Academics[edit]
St John's College is known for its strong academic performance. It consistently ranks among the top colleges in the Norrington Table, which measures the academic performance of Oxford colleges. The college offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses across various disciplines.
Student Life[edit]
