History
Shandong University was originally founded as the Imperial Shandong University (山东大学堂) in 1901 during the late Qing Dynasty. It was one of the earliest modern universities established in China. In 1951, Shandong University merged with the East China University, and in 2000, it merged with Shandong Medical University and Shandong University of Technology, significantly expanding its academic offerings and research capabilities.
