Political Asthma (pronunciation: /pəˈlɪtɪkəl ˈæsmə/) is a term used in the field of Psychology and Political Science to describe a condition where an individual experiences physical symptoms, particularly breathing difficulties, triggered by political stress or anxiety.

Etymology

The term "Political Asthma" is a combination of the words "political", derived from the Greek word "politikos" meaning "of, for, or relating to citizens", and "asthma", a Greek word meaning "panting or shortness of breath". It was first used in the late 20th century to describe the physical manifestation of stress or anxiety caused by political events or discussions.
