Polish heroin
Polish Heroin is a colloquial term referring to a homemade form of heroin that originated in Poland. It is also known as kompot or Polish cocktail. This form of heroin is typically produced from poppy straw, the mature, dried parts of the opium poppy plant.
History
The production and use of Polish heroin began in the 1980s in Poland. The economic hardships of the time, coupled with the availability of poppy plants, led to the creation of this homemade drug. The process of making Polish heroin involves extracting the morphine from the poppy straw and then converting it into heroin.
Production
The production of Polish heroin involves several steps. First, the poppy straw is soaked in a solution of acetic acid and water. This solution is then heated to extract the morphine. The morphine is then converted into heroin by adding acetic anhydride. The final product is a brown liquid that can be injected or ingested.
Effects
The effects of Polish heroin are similar to those of other forms of heroin. These include euphoria, drowsiness, and pain relief. However, due to the homemade nature of the drug, the potency can vary greatly. This can lead to an increased risk of overdose.
Health Risks
The health risks associated with Polish heroin are significant. In addition to the risks associated with heroin use, such as addiction and overdose, there are additional risks due to the homemade nature of the drug. These include the potential for contamination and the risk of injecting harmful substances. Furthermore, the use of Polish heroin has been linked to an increase in HIV and hepatitis C infections in Poland.
Legal Status
The production, distribution, and use of Polish heroin is illegal in Poland and many other countries. Despite this, the drug continues to be produced and used, particularly in rural areas of Poland.
