Orangeburg County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 80,461. The county seat is Orangeburg. The county was created in 1769.
History[edit]
Orangeburg County was established in 1769 and named for William IV, Prince of Orange. The county has a rich history, including significant roles in the American Revolutionary War and the Civil Rights Movement.
Geography[edit]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,128 square miles (2,920 km²), of which 1,106 square miles (2,860 km²) is land and 22 square miles (57 km²) (1.9%) is water.
