Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychological Assessment (pronunciation: neuro·psy·cho·log·i·cal as·sess·ment) is a performance-based method to assess cognitive functioning. This method specifically measures areas such as attention, memory, language, and abilities that are necessary for a person to carry out daily activities.

Etymology

The term "Neuropsychological Assessment" is derived from three Greek words. "Neuro" refers to the nerves or the nervous system, "psyche" means mind or soul, and "logia" translates to "study of". The term "assessment" comes from the Latin word "assessus", which means a sitting by or near, hence a judicial examination or assessment.
