The NFC South is a division of the National Football League (NFL)'s National Football Conference (NFC). Established in 2002 as part of the NFL's reorganization plan to create a more balanced and competitive league structure, the NFC South comprises four teams located in the southeastern part of the United States.
History
The NFC South was created when the NFL realigned divisions following the addition of the Houston Texans in 2002. This realignment was designed to balance the number of teams in each division and to renew traditional rivalries within a more geographically logical framework.
