Mymensingh Medical College (pronunciation: /maɪˈmɛnsɪŋ/ medical college) is a government medical college in Bangladesh. It is located in the Mymensingh District of the Dhaka Division and is affiliated with the University of Dhaka.
Etymology
The name "Mymensingh" is derived from the ancient city of "Mahasthan" in the Bogra District of Bangladesh. The city was known as "Momenshahi" during the British colonial period, which was later shortened to Mymensingh.
History
Mymensingh Medical College was established in 1924 as a medical school, which was upgraded to a medical college in 1962. The college is one of the oldest medical institutions in Bangladesh, with a rich history of providing quality medical education and healthcare services.
