The Menier Chocolate company was founded in the early 19th century in Paris, France. Antoine Brutus Menier, a pharmacist by profession, started the company with the intention of producing medicinal products. However, the company soon started manufacturing chocolate, which was considered a medicinal product at the time.

In 1825, the company built a factory in Noisiel, a suburb of Paris, which was later converted into a chocolate production facility. The Menier family expanded the business over the years, making it one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in France by the late 19th century.
