History

The Medical University, Sofia was established in 1917 as a faculty of Sofia University. It became an independent institution in 1950, named Medical Academy, Sofia. In 1995, it was renamed to its current name, Medical University, Sofia.

The university comprises five main faculties: the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dental Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Public Health, and the Faculty of Health Care Management.
