Mark Edward Green (born November 8, 1964) is an American politician, physician, and retired United States Army officer serving as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 7th congressional district. A member of the Republican Party, Green has been in office since 2019. Prior to his political career, he served as a flight surgeon in the United States Army and was involved in the capture of Saddam Hussein.

Early life and education[edit]

Mark Green was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in quantitative business management. Following his graduation, Green served in the United States Army as an infantry officer. He later attended Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree.

Military career[edit]

Green's military career included service as a flight surgeon with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). He was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he participated in numerous combat missions. Notably, Green was the emergency physician during the capture of Saddam Hussein, and he later wrote a book detailing the experience.

Medical career[edit]

After leaving active duty, Green founded a healthcare company, Align MD, which provides emergency department staffing and management. His medical career has been marked by a focus on improving healthcare delivery and management.

Political career[edit]

Green was elected to the Tennessee Senate in 2012, where he served until 2018. During his tenure, he focused on issues such as healthcare reform, veterans' affairs, and fiscal responsibility. In 2018, Green was elected to the United States House of Representatives, representing Tennessee's 7th congressional district.

In Congress, Green has served on several committees, including the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. He has been an advocate for conservative policies, including tax reform, border security, and military support.

Personal life[edit]

Green is married to Camie Green, and they have two children. The family resides in Clarksville, Tennessee. Green is an active member of his community and participates in various charitable activities.
