Marin Čilić

Marin Čilić (born 28 September 1988) is a professional tennis player from Croatia. He is considered one of the top players in the world, having won numerous titles, including the 2014 US Open.

Early Life[edit]

Marin Čilić was born in Medjugorje, a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He started playing tennis at a young age, showing a natural talent for the sport. He moved to San Remo, Italy at the age of 15 to train at the Tennis Academy.

Career[edit]

Čilić turned professional in 2005. He achieved his first significant success in 2009 when he reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. In 2014, he won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open, defeating Kei Nishikori in the final. This victory made him the first Croatian player to win a Grand Slam singles title since Goran Ivanišević in 2001.

Čilić has also been successful in Davis Cup competition, helping Croatia to win the title in 2018. He has reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world.

Playing Style[edit]

Čilić is known for his powerful serve and aggressive baseline play. His forehand is considered one of the best in the game. He is also noted for his mental toughness and ability to perform well under pressure.

Personal Life[edit]

Čilić is married to Kristina Milković. They have a son, Baldo, born in 2020.
