Louisville Metro EMS

Louisville Metro EMS (pronounced /ˈluːiːvɪl/ /ˈmɛtroʊ/ /ˈiːɛmɛs/), also known as Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services, is the primary provider of Emergency Medical Services in the Louisville, Kentucky metropolitan area.

Etymology

The term "Louisville Metro EMS" is derived from the city it serves, Louisville, and the term "EMS", an acronym for Emergency Medical Services. The "Metro" in the name refers to the metropolitan area of Louisville.

History

Louisville Metro EMS was established to provide emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of the Louisville metropolitan area. It is a part of the Louisville Metro Government and works closely with other emergency services in the area, such as the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Louisville Fire Department.
