Anterior Meniscofemoral Ligament[edit]
The Anterior Meniscofemoral Ligament (AMFL) is a small ligament found in the knee. It is one of the two meniscofemoral ligaments, the other being the Posterior Meniscofemoral Ligament. The AMFL is not present in all individuals and its clinical significance is a subject of ongoing research.
Anatomy[edit]
The Anterior Meniscofemoral Ligament originates from the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus and inserts into the medial femoral condyle. It is located anterior to the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) and is often smaller than the Posterior Meniscofemoral Ligament.
Clinical Significance[edit]
The presence of an Anterior Meniscofemoral Ligament can have implications for knee surgery, particularly in procedures involving the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL). It may also be associated with certain knee pathologies, although further research is needed in this area.
