Laser Eye Surgery (pronunciation: /ˈleɪzər aɪ ˈsɜːrdʒəri/) is a type of Refractive Surgery that corrects vision problems. The procedure uses a special type of laser to reshape the Cornea - the clear front part of the eye - to improve vision.

The term "Laser Eye Surgery" is derived from the acronym LASER, which stands for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation", and the word "surgery" which comes from the Greek "cheirourgia", meaning "hand work".
