Lance Bass
James Lance Bass (born May 4, 1979) is an American singer, dancer, actor, and film and television producer. He is best known as a member of the boy band NSYNC.
Early Life[edit]
Lance Bass was born in Laurel, Mississippi, to James Irvin Bass Jr. and Diane Bass. He grew up in nearby Clinton, Mississippi, and developed an interest in space and music at an early age. He attended Clinton High School.
Career[edit]
NSYNC[edit]
In 1995, Bass was recruited by Justin Timberlake to join the boy band NSYNC, which also included JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone. The group achieved massive success in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits like "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me." They released several albums, including No Strings Attached and Celebrity.
Solo Career[edit]
After NSYNC went on hiatus in 2002, Bass pursued various solo projects. He appeared in several television shows and movies, including On the Line and Zoolander. He also competed on Dancing with the Stars.
Space Training[edit]
In 2002, Bass underwent cosmonaut training in Russia with the aim of joining a Soyuz mission to the International Space Station. However, due to financial issues, he was unable to secure a seat on the mission.
Producing[edit]
Bass has produced several films and television shows through his production company, BAM Productions. Notable projects include the documentary The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story.
Radio and Podcasting[edit]
Bass has hosted several radio shows and podcasts, including Dirty Pop with Lance Bass and The Daily Popcast.
Personal Life[edit]
In 2006, Bass publicly came out as gay in an interview with People magazine. He has been an advocate for LGBT rights and has worked with various organizations to promote equality. In 2014, he married Michael Turchin.
Philanthropy[edit]
Bass is involved in various charitable activities. He has supported organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign and the Trevor Project.
