Julie A. Johnson

Julie A. Johnson is a distinguished pharmacologist and geneticist known for her significant contributions to the field of pharmacogenomics. She is currently the Dean and Distinguished Professor at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy.

Early Life and Education

Julie A. Johnson was born in United States. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Ohio State University and later pursued her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin. She further completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics at the Ohio State University.

Career

Johnson started her career as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She later moved to the University of Florida in 1998, where she served as the Director of the Center for Pharmacogenomics and the Program Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. In 2013, she was appointed as the Dean of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy.

Research

Johnson's research primarily focuses on pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine, particularly in the area of cardiovascular diseases. She has made significant contributions to the understanding of genetic variations that influence responses to drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, heart failure, and coronary artery disease.

Awards and Honors

Johnson has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Therapeutic Frontiers Lecture Award from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the Leon I Goldberg Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the Volwiler Research Achievement Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
