John Cleese

John Cleese (born 27 October 1939) is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his work with the comedy group Monty Python, as well as for his role in the television series Fawlty Towers and the film series A Fish Called Wanda.

Early Life

John Marwood Cleese was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. He attended Clifton College and later studied at Downing College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Cambridge Footlights.

Cleese is one of the founding members of the comedy group Monty Python, which was formed in 1969. The group created the television show Monty Python's Flying Circus, which became a significant influence on comedy worldwide.
