Vastus intermedius muscle

Vastus intermedius muscle is one of the four muscles that comprise the quadriceps femoris, a large muscle group located on the front of the thigh. The vastus intermedius is situated deep to the vastus lateralis and vastus medialis muscles, and it lies directly on the anterior surface of the femur.
