Hydraulic Pump

A hydraulic pump is a mechanical device that converts mechanical power into hydraulic energy. It generates flow with enough power to overcome pressure induced by the load. When a hydraulic pump operates, it creates a vacuum at the pump inlet, which forces liquid from the reservoir into the inlet line to the pump and by mechanical action delivers this liquid to the pump outlet and forces it into the hydraulic system.

Types of Hydraulic Pumps

There are three types of hydraulic pumps: Gear Pumps, Vane Pumps, and Piston Pumps.

Gear Pumps

Gear Pumps are the simplest type of hydraulic pumps. They consist of two meshed gears which rotate in a closely fitted casing. The gear pump is a robust and simple pump. Its simplicity, efficiency and productivity make it a widely used pump in many industries.

Vane Pumps

Vane Pumps have a set of vanes mounted to a rotor that rotates inside a cavity. As the rotor spins, the vanes are pushed out to the walls of the housing by centrifugal force, creating chambers that trap fluid and transport it from the inlet to the outlet.

Piston Pumps

Piston Pumps are a type of hydraulic pump that uses a piston moving in and out of a cylindrical housing to create pressure and flow. They are capable of very high pressures and are often used in industrial and mobile equipment.

Applications

Hydraulic pumps are used in many applications including construction equipment, manufacturing machinery, and aviation. They are also used in applications that require heavy lifting or high pressure such as hydraulic presses and car brakes.
