Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 can be produced in higher than normal amounts by some types of cancer cells, including breast, ovarian, bladder, pancreatic, gastric and esophageal cancer. This can cause cancer cells to grow faster and spread to other parts of the body. Checking the level of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 on some types of cancer cells can help in planning treatment. Also known as c-erbB-2, HER2, HER2/neu and human EGF receptor 2
