HER2 - (pronounced) A protein involved in normal cell growth. HER2 can be produced in higher than normal amounts by some types of cancer cells, including breast, ovarian, bladder, pancreatic, stomach and gullet cancer. This can cause cancer cells to grow faster and spread to other parts of the body. Checking the amount of HER2 in some types of cancer cells can help in planning treatment.
