Hospital Sisters Health System
Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is a non-profit, Catholic healthcare system based in Springfield, Illinois. It operates a network of hospitals and healthcare facilities across Illinois and Wisconsin. HSHS is sponsored by the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, a religious congregation founded in 1844 in Germany.
History[edit]
The Hospital Sisters of St. Francis established their first hospital in the United States in 1875 in Springfield, Illinois. Over the years, the congregation expanded its healthcare mission, leading to the formation of the Hospital Sisters Health System in 1978. HSHS has grown to include 15 hospitals and numerous clinics, providing a wide range of medical services.
