Home Run Inn

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

Home Run Inn is a Chicago-based pizza company that operates as both a restaurant chain and a brand of frozen pizzas distributed in grocery stores nationwide. The company was founded in 1923 by Vincent and Mary Grittani, who named it after a baseball from a nearby park broke their tavern's window.

History

The Home Run Inn began as a small tavern on Chicago's South Side in 1923. The tavern was named "Home Run Inn" in 1927, after a baseball from the neighborhood park smashed through one of the tavern's windows. In 1947, the Grittani family added pizza to the tavern's menu. The pizza quickly became popular, and the family decided to convert the tavern into a full-fledged pizza parlor.

In the 1980s, Home Run Inn expanded its operations to include frozen pizzas, which are now distributed to grocery stores across the United States. Today, the company operates several restaurant locations in the Chicago area and continues to produce its popular frozen pizzas.

Products

Home Run Inn's menu primarily consists of Chicago-style pizza, which is known for its thick, buttery crust, chunky tomato sauce, and generous amounts of cheese. The company also offers a variety of other dishes, including pasta, salad, and sandwiches.

The company's frozen pizzas are made with the same ingredients and recipes as the pizzas served in its restaurants. They are available in several varieties, including cheese, sausage, pepperoni, and supreme.
