Harrington Park

Harrington Park is a suburb located in the Macarthur Region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area of Camden Council.

History

Harrington Park was originally home to the Muringong, southernmost of the Darug people. European settlement began in the early 19th century following the establishment of the colony of New South Wales. The area was named after Harrington Park Estate, a property acquired by entrepreneur and politician John Macarthur in 1815.

Geography

Harrington Park is located 60 kilometres southwest of the Sydney central business district. It is bordered by the suburbs of Narellan and Camden.

Demographics

As of the 2016 census, Harrington Park had a population of 9,301. The suburb has a higher than average proportion of families with children, and a lower than average proportion of single-person households.

Education

Harrington Park is home to Harrington Park Public School, which caters to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. For secondary education, students typically attend schools in the nearby suburbs of Narellan and Camden.

Recreation

Harrington Park offers a range of recreational facilities, including Harrington Park Lake, sports fields, and a number of parks and reserves. The suburb also has a shopping centre, Harrington Plaza, which features a supermarket and a range of specialty stores.

Harrington Park is served by bus routes operated by Busabout Sydney. The nearest train station is located in Campbelltown.
