Central government of Nepal

The Government of Nepal (Template:Lang-ne) is the central government of Nepal. It is a federal democratic republic with a multi-tiered system of governance. The government operates under the framework of the Constitution of Nepal, which was promulgated in 2015.

Structure

The Government of Nepal is divided into three branches: the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary.

Executive

The executive branch is headed by the President of Nepal, who is the head of state, and the Prime Minister of Nepal, who is the head of government. The Council of Ministers is responsible for the administration of the government and is appointed by the Prime Minister.

Legislature

The legislative branch is the Federal Parliament of Nepal, which is a bicameral body consisting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly. The Federal Parliament is responsible for making laws, approving the budget, and overseeing the executive branch.

Judiciary

The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. It is headed by the Supreme Court of Nepal, which is the highest court in the country. The judiciary is responsible for interpreting the constitution and laws, and for ensuring justice is served.

Administrative Divisions

Nepal is divided into seven provinces, each with its own provincial government. The provinces are further divided into districts, which are subdivided into municipalities and rural municipalities.
