History
Givaudan was founded in 1895 in Zurich, Switzerland by Leon and Xavier Givaudan. The company initially focused on producing synthetic flavors and fragrances. Over the years, Givaudan expanded its operations globally and diversified its product offerings.
In 1948, Givaudan opened a research center in Dübendorf, Switzerland, which became a hub for innovation in the flavor and fragrance industry. The company continued to grow through acquisitions, including the purchase of Fritzsche, Dodge & Olcott in 1963 and the flavor division of Nestlé in 2002.
Operations
Givaudan operates in two main business segments: Flavors and Fragrances. The Flavors segment develops and manufactures flavors for the food and beverage industry, while the Fragrances segment creates fragrances for personal care, home care, and fine fragrances.
The company has a global presence with production sites, research and development centers, and sales offices in over 40 countries. Givaudan employs more than 13,000 people worldwide.
