generalized anxiety disorder - (pronounced) (JEH-neh-ruh-lized ang-ZY-eh-tee dis-OR-der) A condition characterized by excessive worry and feelings of fear, terror, and discomfort and lasting six months or longer. Other symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder include restlessness, tiredness or irritability, muscle tension, difficulty concentrating or sleeping, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, sweating, and dizziness.
