Furfuryl alcohol, also known as 2-furylmethanol or 2-furanmethanol, is an organic compound with the formula C4H3OCH2OH. It is a colorless liquid, but aged samples appear amber. It possesses a faint odor of burning and a bitter taste. Furfuryl alcohol is found in a variety of agricultural products, including coffee, whole grain bread, and shiitake mushrooms.
