Evista - (pronounced) (ee-VIS-tuh) A drug used to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are at high risk of developing this disease or who have osteoporosis, and for Prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Evista is also being studied to treat other types of cancer. It blocks the effects of the hormone estrogen in breast tissue, which can help prevent breast cancer cells from growing. Evista can also help prevent bone loss. It is a type of Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM). Also called raloxifene hydrochloride
