Ethiodol - (pronounced) (eh-your-oh-dol) A form of poppyseed oil that contains iodine. Ethiodol is given by injection and accumulates in the blood and lymphatic vessels of tumors. It is used for imaging (taking pictures) of the salivary glands and lymphatic system. It is also examined in imaging of other organs such as the liver, lungs, stomach and thyroid. It is a type of diagnostic imaging agent. Also called ethiodized oil, iodized oil and lipiodol
